Internet Statistics for 2020
Royal Pingdom, a research company has assembled the results of statistical computing carried out by MessageLabs, Radicati Group, Netcraft, Verisign, Twitter, Google and others and gave the world pure numbers.
According to the research, the number of Internet users has grown by 14% (kind of huge – where did all the newbies come from?) in comparison with the year of 2019. To be exact, they claim there exist 1.97 billion of Internet users out there and contact with it development company - https://jatapp.com/. The number of websites has reached 255 million, which is 21.4 million more than in 2019 (kind of a too rapid increase, too).
Mark Zuckerberg’s social network boasts 600 million accounts, while Twitter community counts 175 million in contrast to 75 million in 2019 (again, they used to say Twitter was becoming unpopular?).
The statistics are: there are 2 billion YouTube video views on a daily basis, which means that pretty much every single Internet user watches at least one video every day. Really? 42% of Internet users are from Asia; Europe ranks second with 24.2%; North America gives 13.5% to the web; Latin America – 10.4% (together with Caribbean); Africa gives 5.6%; Middle East’s share is 3.2% and Australia’s is the tiny 1.1%.
There were 107 trillion emails sent in 2020. For the reference, trillion is one million million. That’s a lot. 46.9% of Internet users browse it with Internet Explorer, while Firefox is used by 30.8% of people. Chrome boasts 14.9%, Safari has 4.8% and Opera is the last in the list with its 2.1%. When it comes to images, we discovered that Flickr hosts about 5 billion photos, while Facebook accepts around 36 billion photos every year.
Horrifying numbers, and we wonder what kind of application development - https://jatapp.com/services/application-development/ - were used to collect the statistics, too. Anyway, you know what they say: “Never trust the statistics, unless you falsified them yourself”, but the numbers are, however, food for thought.
Will Apple Plunge for a Budget iPhone?
‘If you don’t have an iPhone, well, you don’t have an iPhone’, is the famous marketing catch phrase that become popular post iPhone commercials that hit TV screens in 2019. The message evoked a sense of ownership, which could only be experienced by iPhone users. It clearly resonated that if you are not iPhone user, you can never experience the delight of using an iPhone. Specifically ui ux design - https://jatapp.com/services/ui-ux-design/ - to sweep in some sort of an ‘iPhone Envy’ in the minds of non iPhone users, the commercial boasted of set of unique mobile applications that could only be accessed from an iPhone. Not sure, if the commercial stirred Android or Blackberry loyalist into buying an iPhone, but it definitely escalated iPhone sales that year by a considerable margin.
iPhone users feel immensely proud of their Smartphone. It is an undoubted fact that iPhone is a very classy and user friendly Smartphone that intently addresses each and every need of a modern day mobile users. Additionally the Apple app store has an exhaustive list of apps for every purpose in life that has further contributed to the popularity of the phone. However, regardless of the goodness and class, buying an iPhone does burn a hole in the pocket of customers, which perhaps is one of the formidable reasons, why iOS stands second in the ‘most widely used mobile OS in the world’ list.
As opposed to die heart competitor, Android, Apple Inc. adheres to a strict close door policy that gives it a complete control over the hardware and software component of the phone. As a result of this, Apple has been able to build a reputation that is synonymous with brand, quality and high price. Despite rock solid image and large base of loyal customers, it is rumored that Apple Inc. will soon be plunging into launching ‘budget iPhones’.
Although, this piece of information has emerged from an unknown source, if such a thing were to happen it will be a departure from what Apple has been vehemently following for the past so many years. According to the sources, “Apple plans to launch an inexpensive model targeting emerging markets with initial quarterly shipments of only 2.5-3.0 million units to test market response and software development website.”Another interesting information that has emerged is that the phone will use a ‘cost-effective plastic chassis, a 4-inch LTPS display, and an A6 applications processor similar to the current-generation iPhone. It is also expected that the ‘budget iPhone’, will be available in wide range of colors, although we do not yet know the exact shades. Secondly, the color black will not be an option for the budget version of iPhone, which perhaps is reversed for the high end version of iPhone. However, there are conflicting reports regarding the same. The theory of budget iPhone is said to have emerged after Tim Cook, Apple CEO said that ‘we are making moves to make things more affordable’. This statement was made by Cook at the Goldman Sachs technology and internet conference in San Francisco, earlier this year. If, development of budget iPhones is true, it will directly pose a threat to entry level Android Smartphones. In fact, a formidable reason why Android smartphones are so widely used is that they have a wide range of cheap to medium priced phones, which majority of customers can afford.
Since, there have been no official confirmation on ‘Budget iPhone’, one can only speculate and wait for the proceedings. It is expected that during the world’s developer conference which is scheduled to be held next month, perhaps some light on this matter will be levied. However, it is worth pondering, why Apple Inc. is suddenly is taking the ‘budget phone’ route when all these years they have been so successfully selling reputably priced smartphones and gadgets.
